James R. Toews

Background and Education

James (Jim) was born and raised in southern Manitoba. He obtained his Science Degrees from the University of Manitoba in 1966, his Honours in Chemistry at the University of Saskatchewan in 1969, and his Law Degree at the University of British Columbia in 1974. Jim started his practice doing civil, criminal, and family law, as well as general solicitor work. His practice now mostly involves land transfers, mortgages, farm and business transactions, general security, collections and foreclosures, corporate matters, wills and estates.

Jim is a member of the Chilliwack Bar Association and Chilliwack Kiwanis Club. He has served on various committees and has supported the senior community in Chilliwack as a volunteer speaker with the People’s Law School and Senior Foundation of BC. He has assisted in coaching minor sports and enjoys working with children. He is also an active member of the Carmen United Church.

Jim is married with three children and enjoys spending time with them through all of the amenities available in the Fraser Valley from skiing, hiking, golfing, and biking to sports of all kinds including hockey and soccer. As a partner of the firm, Jim loves meeting people and is proud to support community projects and sports in Chilliwack.
